ExCROSS BLUE LEAGUE 2025: New Era in Student eSports Begins October 11

Chubu Telecommunications Co., Inc. (ctc, official website) has announced the return of the student esports league, “ExCROSS BLUE LEAGUE 2025,” which will kick off on October 11. Now in its second year, the tournament is expanding to include the popular title IdentityV, creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for student gamers.

A Platform for Cross-School Collaboration

The ExCROSS BLUE LEAGUE allows students to form teams regardless of grade or school, welcoming participants from high school through graduate school across Japan. According to ctc’s official esports portal, last year’s competition led to the emergence of seven professional players, showcasing the league’s role in fostering the next generation of esports talent.

Bridging Students and Industry

This year’s league will adopt a hybrid format, combining online and offline events while connecting students with sponsor companies. The tournament provides valuable networking opportunities that can also serve as part of students’ job-hunting activities. With the addition of IdentityV, the league is expected to attract an even broader participant base.

Career-Building Through Esports

Participants will also have access to a unique “gaming internship” program aimed at developing skills relevant to the esports industry. These experiences, which include interactions with pro players and sponsors, will help students discover their strengths and broaden their career horizons.

Match Schedule and Tournament Overview

The tournament kicks off with Pokémon UNITE on October 11, followed by IdentityV on October 12, and Street Fighter 6 on October 13. Matches will continue through December and take place at two venues: esports Style UENO in Tokyo and Commufa eSports Stadium NAGOYA in Nagoya.

Looking Ahead

“ExCROSS BLUE LEAGUE 2025” goes beyond competition—it’s a platform where students can express themselves, forge friendships, and build connections with potential employers. The skills and bonds developed through this experience are likely to have a lasting impact. As esports continues to shape new career paths, the league offers an exciting opportunity for the next generation to explore their futures.
