New Collaboration: Funahashi Village, Japan’s Smallest, Launches VTuber-Branded Local Products

Collaboration with Vtuber

Toyama Prefecture’s Funahashi Village, known as the smallest village in Japan, is embarking on a new challenge. The village has announced its collaboration with Vtuber Harechi Uten to offer the premium sake “Masuizumi Funahashi” as a gift for hometown tax donations. This initiative is being conducted on the donation site managed by Alyawmu Co., Ltd., with acceptance starting at 6 PM on October 1st.

The Appeal of Junmai Daiginjo “Masuizumi Funahashi”

This sake “Masuizumi Funahashi” is made using “Bandori Rice”, a variety of Koshihikari from Funahashi Village, polished down to 50% and fermented at a low temperature. With pure waters from the Tateyama mountain range and skilled brewers, this sake features a fresh melon aroma and subtle sweetness, making it an excellent match for sashimi. The junmai daiginjo “Funahashi” is a rare item available only in limited locations within Toyama Prefecture.

Harechi Uten Bottle Charm Included

Those who contribute to Funahashi Village’s hometown tax will receive an original acrylic bottle charm of Harechi Uten as a gift. This charm is a limited-time special offering, presented to donors as a token of appreciation.

Understanding the Hometown Tax System

Hometown tax is a system in which individuals make donations to municipalities of their choice, with a portion of the contributions being refunded through income tax deductions or reductions in resident tax. Additionally, the funds raised through donations are used for community development and industrial promotion by the local governments.

Future Prospects and Reflections

This project is a wonderful attempt to widely convey the appeal of Funahashi Village and stimulate regional revitalization. Utilizing the new media of Vtubers, this approach is expected to resonate with many young individuals, thereby enhancing the village’s visibility. We hope to see such innovative initiatives spreading across Japan in the future.
