NTTe-Sports Academy Expands: New Middle School Campuses and Nationwide Online Courses in Tokyo Area

A New Learning Space Supported by eSports

NTTe-Sports Co., Ltd. has announced the opening of three campuses in Tokyo and a nationwide online course at “NTTe-Sports High School Junior Division” in June 2026. This initiative aims to connect socially withdrawn junior high school students with the community through eSports. The campuses will be located in Akihabara, Kayabacho, and Chofu in the Tokyo area, with recruitment starting on January 26, 2026, for 10 students at each campus and 30 for the nationwide online course.

Concept and Background

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the number of students who are withdrawn from school is about 354,000 for the 2024 fiscal year, making school refusal a serious social issue. NTTe-Sports has been supporting these students by utilizing eSports, and aims to provide a safe learning environment tailored to each individual based on past successful experiences. This initiative considers the growing number of eSports fans and the increasing importance of eSports, particularly among younger generations.

Features of the New Campuses and Online Course

Akihabara Campus “eXeField Akiba”, Kayabacho Campus “ma+chiii”, and Chofu Campus “NTTe-City Labo” will offer offline classes twice a month. These campuses provide an environment where students can learn freely, with education facilitated through eSports. The nationwide online course is designed for accessibility, allowing students to attend from anywhere with an internet connection, featuring a curriculum that helps maintain a steady learning pace even in an online-only format.

Reflections and Future Outlook

The new learning spaces provided by NTTe-Sports for socially withdrawn junior high school students are highly anticipated as an innovation in education in the digital age. This approach, which aims to develop social skills and digital competencies through eSports, is expected to break new ground beyond traditional educational frameworks. It is hoped that this initiative, focusing on the future of learning, will become a safe haven for an increasing number of students.
