Meet VTuber Marina Ririka: Tamami Uruma Hosts Audition for Kawaii Voice Female Cast
Index
PANDORA Inc. has announced the addition of a casting audition for the character “Tamabana Uruma” in the next-generation VTuber project “Marina Lilica.” This recruitment focuses on female cast members with “Kawaii voices,” developing a next-generation VTuber experience linked to events that utilize a 3D avatar from debut and the latest MR technology to create an “in-person” experience.
What is the “Marina Lilica” Project?
“Marina Lilica” is a VTuber project that embraces the concept of a “caravan” delivering entertainment from the sea of cyberspace to reality. Through real events utilizing MR (mixed reality) technology and streaming activities primarily on TikTok LIVE, it provides a new entertainment experience that bridges the 2D and 3D worlds.
With technical cooperation from Sony Corporation, the goal is to eventually expand into permanent locations, turning the experience of interacting with “meetable VTubers” in the real world into an asset, aiming for new revenue opportunities, enhanced relationships with fans, and the realization of sustainable IP development.
The Character “Tamabana Uruma” Inspired by Coral
The character “Tamabana Uruma,” for which additional recruitment is being conducted, is inspired by coral. She embodies a soft and somewhat ephemeral presence, and her charm lies in her innocent and sweet moments that come forth unexpectedly.
The desired voice qualities include a high and lovely voice often referred to as “loli voice,” a slightly muffled soft voice known as “hambo,” and a natural sweetness and innocence that evokes a desire to protect her, along with a cuteness that is close to her unrefined self. The emphasis is not merely on a “cute voice” but on a “voice that is loved as a presence.”
Application Requirements and Audition Schedule
Application requirements include being a woman aged 18 and over, healthy in mind and body, not under contract with any other agency, and residing in the Kanto area at the time of contract in May 2026. Those with Kawaii voices (loli voice, hambo, etc.) are eligible, and those with streaming experience (including mobile apps) are welcomed. There is no participation fee.
The deadline for the first screening (document selection) is May 13, 2026, with notification of results on May 15. The second screening (in-person examination) is scheduled for May 22 in Tokyo, with streaming starting on June 1. Successful candidates will take part in 3D VTuber training, regular 3D meet-and-greet events, and manage character SNS (X, TikTok, etc.).
Future Developments: Full Support with 3D Avatar and “Human Metamorphosis Project”
Successful candidates will receive complete implementation of a “3D body” from the early stages of their debut, provision of a full set of streaming equipment including PC, monitor, microphone, keyboard, webcam, VTubeStudio, and V-Avatar, as well as ongoing support up to monetization through PANDORA’s “Human Metamorphosis Project: Project YOHANE”.
The “Human Metamorphosis Project” is a companion-style project based on the knowledge of nurturing over 5,000 live streamers, focusing on monetization design primarily through TikTok LIVE. With practical lectures conducted in a studio, it aims for monetization starting from the first month within the initial two months, establishing a solid foundation for activities as a VTuber. Details and applications can be confirmed on the special site.
Reflections and Outlook
The immediate “3D implementation” of avatars, along with equipment provision and revenue support, significantly lowers the barriers to entry for individual VTubers. The concepts of “meeting in person” through MR technology and the vision for a permanent location hint at the next evolution of VTuber culture, which has primarily been online. The recruitment criteria that clearly articulate “Kawaii as a voice quality” are unique and suggest rich implications for future “voice design” in VTuber casting.
