Allyawmu Co., Ltd. has started offering the junmai daiginjo “Masusen Funahashi” from the long-established sake brewery Masuda Sake Brewery as a return gift for hometown tax donations, in collaboration with Funahashi Village in Toyama Prefecture and the folklore-loving VTuber, Meguru Moroboshi, starting April 22, 2026 (Wednesday) at 8 PM. This is an innovative initiative combining regional revitalization with VTuber culture, showcasing the charm of Funahashi Village, known as the smallest village in Japan.
Junmai Daiginjo “Masusen Funahashi” Brewed in the Smallest Village in Japan
Funahashi Village in Toyama Prefecture is the smallest municipality in Japan at 3.47㎢. However, it is located in the heart of the Toyama Plain, boasting a picturesque rural landscape with views of the Tateyama mountain range and proximity to urban areas. Leveraging its convenient 15-minute access to Toyama City via the Toyama Chiho Railway, the village’s population has roughly doubled over the past 30 years, attracting many families with children, making it one of the youngest municipalities in the nation.
The “Masusen Junmai Daiginjo Funahashi,” the return gift in this campaign, is a rare sake meticulously polished to 50% using locally sourced Koshihikari rice “Bandori Mai,” and brewed through low-temperature fermentation over about a month. With the mineral-rich groundwater from the Tateyama mountain range and the brewer’s precise temperature control, it has been crafted to achieve a balance of refreshing melon-like aroma, crisp acidity, and a sharp finish. The donation amount is 15,000 yen, and it is available for nationwide shipping in a 720ml size.
Original Bottle Charm of Meguru Moroboshi as a Gift
As a commemoration of participation in the “Funahashi Village Hometown Tax Support Project,” all donors will receive an acrylic bottle charm featuring Meguru Moroboshi. This special edition, combining the charm of Japanese sake with the world of Meguru Moroboshi, who is known for her love of sake, is a unique experience.
Meguru Moroboshi is a VTuber affiliated with GAMABOOKS, who loves folklore and contemporary studies. Known for her livestreams explaining folklore, covering museum visits, and hosting the academic VTuber relay event “School of Tube,” she actively promotes the concept that “learning is fun,” and continues to publish content across various platforms like Note and Voicy.
Collaboration Commemorative Video & Public Interview Livestream
As part of the collaboration, on April 22, 2026 (Wednesday) at 8 PM, a video titled “Bura Meguru Vlog: Recommendations for Wandering in Toyama” will be released. Experience the allure of Funahashi Village through the eyes of Meguru Moroboshi on YouTube (Release URL: https://youtu.be/iu0CAh2cqXc).

Let’s Ask the Village Mayor About the Great Charms of the Smallest Village in Japan!!” is scheduled, featuring the Mayor of Funahashi Village, Mitsuru Watanabe, as a guest. This event is noteworthy as it provides a platform for VTubers to directly converse with municipal leaders (Livestream URL: here).
Future Developments: A New Form of Hometown Tax x VTuber
Donation acceptance will start on April 22, 2026 (Wednesday) at 8 PM, and return gifts will be shipped nationwide within two months after donation acceptance. The donation site can be accessed here, and due to limited quantities, early access is recommended for fans and sake lovers.
Allyawmu is a startup that promotes the motto “Enriching Hometowns with Creators,” utilizing NFTs and digital solutions to expand hometown tax and tourism support for municipalities across the country. This collaboration between Funahashi Village and Meguru Moroboshi is expected to pave the way for new return gift initiatives linking creators and VTubers with local governments in the future.
Reflections and Prospects
The idea of connecting the smallest village in Japan with VTubers through hometown tax is an exceptionally fresh attempt in the context of regional revitalization. In addition to the charm of the return gift itself, the collaboration video, public interview livestream, and original charm have been expertly designed to provide a multi-layered experience for fans. The intellectual outreach of Meguru Moroboshi, as an academic VTuber, combined with the strengths of Funahashi Village, such as its youth and urban proximity, might set a good example for future municipal x VTuber cases.
