A New Plum Wine Built Around “Enjoy Umeshu More Freely”

The “Hyakunen Umeshu Pekora Can” was developed under the concept of “enjoy umeshu more freely.” Conscious of being enjoyed alongside a live stream, it is finished as a light 3% ABV plum wine. The 350 ml cans are sold in bundles of eight, with a presentation format suitable for gifting.

The packaging features a cute illustration of Pekora in casual wear, expressing the freedom and refreshing nature that defines the product. The artwork is a brand-new piece drawn by Aoki Ume (detailed below), and the package is positioned to work as a streaming companion, a personal indulgence, or a gift for fellow Nousagi (the fan name for Usada Pekora’s audience).

Usada Pekora’s Pick: the “Honey Ginger” Flavor

The two flavor proposals prepared during development. Pekora ultimately chose option 2, the honey ginger profile.

During development, two highly polished sample options were prepared: a “lactic drink style” and a “honey ginger style.” Usada Pekora ultimately picked the latter — the “Honey Ginger” — which balances a light drinking feel with satisfying body, layering a gentle sweetness with a crisp ginger note.

At 3% ABV, the design lets even fans who aren’t strong drinkers enjoy it casually while watching streams. Meiri Shurui added that the can is “a perfect break-time companion” and “meant to be enjoyed in pace with the stream.”

Aoki Ume’s New Label and the History of the Collab

The label artwork is again handled by popular illustrator Aoki Ume, continuing from the past releases “Hyakunen Umeshu Pekora ver.” and “Hyakunen Umeshu Pekora Special.” Aoki Ume commented, “I love this outfit so much too, so I’m grateful for the chance to draw it,” and “With the low ABV, even someone like me who isn’t strong with alcohol can keep sipping it.”

The connection between Usada Pekora and Meiri Shurui began with the 2019 stream segment “Snack Usada,” in which Pekora tried Hyakunen Umeshu on broadcast. Her honest reactions during the stream became a talking point, leading to the November 2020 release of “Hyakunen Umeshu Pekora ver.” and the February 2026 release of “Hyakunen Umeshu Pekora Special.” This Pekora Can is the third installment in that ongoing collaboration.

What’s Next

The Hyakunen Umeshu Pekora Can 8-pack set goes on sale at 17:00 JST on Friday, May 29, 2026 through the Meiri Shurui online shop, priced at 5,500 yen (tax included), with the label illustrated by Aoki Ume. Further details on stock or additional sales channels are expected to surface through the official Meiri Shurui website and the company’s social channels.

“Hyakunen Umeshu” is Meiri Shurui’s signature plum wine series, anchored by “Baika Hyakunen Umeshu,” winner of the top award at the world’s largest plum wine competition. With the Pekora Can launch, the series may see broader recognition and new formats for VTuber collaborations going forward.

Editorial Note

The Usada Pekora × Hyakunen Umeshu collab is a rare six-year arc in which an unscripted stream moment evolved into a productized partnership and then into a series. The new Pekora Can adopts a low-ABV (3%) format and a more approachable honey ginger flavor profile, signaling an intentional reach toward audiences beyond the existing bottled-line drinkers. The continuity of Aoki Ume’s artwork further elevates the collab IP, and this release stands out as a model case for long-term partnerships between VTubers and regional sake breweries.
