Bringing Full-Scale Virtual Production to Individuals and Small Teams

Japan is a market with a major global presence in VTuber culture and virtual entertainment. Activities such as live streaming, music, video production, and fan communication keep expanding year by year, and with them the level of video quality and production polish that viewers expect has risen.

At the same time, building a full-scale virtual production environment has often demanded expensive equipment, complex setup, and specialized technical knowledge from individual creators and small teams. CamSpace 3 Essential is an Unreal Engine-based virtual production environment developed to answer exactly these challenges.

Key Features of CamSpace 3 Essential

CamSpace 3 Essential uses an iPhone and the CamVerse app to capture the movement and position of a real camera, then links this with CamSpace running on a PC to achieve camera tracking inside virtual space. This makes it possible to incorporate not only fixed viewpoints but also three-dimensional camera work such as dolly, crane, and handheld shots, enabling immersive virtual video production.

For visual expression it adopts Unreal Engine—the same engine used in AAA games and film production—to deliver cinematic 3D spaces and high-quality real-time rendering. It integrates the functions needed for virtual production, including Free-D camera tracking, virtual camera mode, GLTF/GLB model import, intuitive chroma key compositing, NDI/Spout support, and USB video capture support. The price is 29,800 yen per year or 2,980 yen per month (both tax included).

Motion Capture with the Red Pill Go Configuration

The higher-tier “CamSpace 3 Essential + Red Pill Go” links a standard webcam, Red Pill Go, and CamSpace to achieve motion capture of virtual characters. For streaming or recording with a fixed camera, character movement can be captured with a webcam-centered setup, and by also using an iPhone with the CamVerse app, it supports virtual production that combines camera tracking.

It can reflect full-body and upper-body movements and gestures, and also supports lip-sync driven by microphone input as well as collaborative streams featuring multiple characters. Priority support and early access to new features are included as well, with a price of 59,800 yen per year or 5,980 yen per month (both tax included).

Japanese Launch and What Comes Next

CamSpace 3 Essential and CamSpace 3 Essential + Red Pill Go will be offered in Japan through Wonder Works starting June 16, 2026. The developer, Zukunft Works Ltd., is a Taiwan-based company that builds virtual production and VTuber-oriented tools; its flagship product, CamSpace, integrates AI motion capture, camera tracking, and Art-Net lighting control on top of the Unreal Engine ecosystem. As a localized rollout for the Japanese VTuber market, future feature updates and adoption by domestic creators will be worth watching. Details are available on the official website.

Impressions and Outlook

Until now, studio-quality virtual production has been limited to a handful of operators by the barriers of equipment, cost, and specialized knowledge. By opening an Unreal Engine-based production environment to individual creators at a price starting from 2,980 yen per month, this service has the potential to broaden the base of VTuber production. The flexibility to choose between camera tracking and motion capture at the configuration stage is especially practical, making adoption easier according to one’s streaming style and budget. Given the depth of Japan’s VTuber and streaming culture, simply widening the range of such production tools is a welcome move that encourages greater diversity of expression.
