Special Exhibition of “1-Page Manga Contest” Winners at Ao-na
Ao-na is a complex facility with a library that opened at the east exit of JR Yokote Station. In its open, spacious area, the winning entries of the “Yukinko Kizuna 1-Page Manga Contest” – submitted by creators and fans from across the country – will be specially exhibited.
For a limited time from August 15 to August 31, anyone can view free of charge the many distinctive works that blend the appeal of official character “Yukinko Kizuna” with Yokote’s regional culture.

Learning Together: “Entertainment Career Workshop: VTuber Edition” for Families
Under the concept of “entertainment x creators x regional culture,” the “Entertainment Career Workshop: VTuber Edition” will be held at Ao-na on August 15, 2026, and the following day, August 16, at “LiSH AKITA,” a creative hub in Akita City. It is a program to nurture and support the next generation of creators.
The curriculum, led by specialist staff from Activ8 Inc. and university-student assistants, includes avatar creation using “VRoid Studio,” a streaming experience using cameras, and original merchandise production using the avatars created (paid and optional). Classroom sessions are also offered to learn about the work of VTubers and creators, IT literacy and rights, and online etiquette.

Background and Future Plans
According to the “Elementary School Students White Paper (surveyed November 2025)” by the Gakken Institute for Educational Research, the No. 1 overall future career that today’s elementary school children want is “online streamer (YouTuber, etc.).” At the same time, opportunities for parents and children to learn the professional mindset and the literacy specific to this field remain scarce. This project aims to create chances for such children to engage with online culture safely and securely.
In addition to the ongoing special exhibition of the “Yukinko Kizuna 1-Page Manga Contest” winners, the workshop also plans to announce Yokote’s snow festival scheduled for 2027. The initiative to blend regional culture with cutting-edge creativity will continue to roll out in stages.
Impressions and Outlook
What makes this initiative interesting is how a regional city is trying to advance both the cultivation of next-generation creators and local revitalization at the same time, using “VTuber” as its entry point. As the number of elementary school children dreaming of becoming streamers grows nationwide, linking hands-on career experiences with local facilities is a fresh way to show the value of a local VTuber. With a connection to Yokote’s snow festival also in view, it is worth watching as a model for continuous regional IP development that does not end as a one-off event.
