VTuber Agency Pastel Live Opens 2nd Gen Auditions, Seeking Talent Versed in 90s–2000s Otaku Culture — Deadline August 20
Index
Kisaragi Planning LLC‘s VTuber agency “Pastel Live” launched its 2nd generation VTuber auditions on July 3, 2026. Under the concept of “bringing out each person’s unique color,” the agency has set up both a year-round recruitment track and a deadline-based track closing August 20.
Key Points
- Recruitment start: July 3, 2026
- Two tracks: (1) Year-round — for those deeply knowledgeable about 90s–2000s otaku culture; (2) Deadline August 20 — for those able to stream 30+ hours per week
- Selection: 3 stages — document screening, Discord voice interview, acceptance; Live2D models provided by the agency
- Requirements: Female, 18+, able to commit for 3+ years, no application fees
Two Recruitment Tracks for Diverse Talent
The audition offers two recruitment tracks. Track 1 is a year-round open call targeting individuals who can speak extensively about 1990s–2000s male otaku culture — including anime of the era, galge (dating sims), light novels, hobby culture, early Niconico, PlayStation 2, and more. Applicants must be able to stream at least 20 hours per week or post one or more in-depth videos weekly. Track 2 has a deadline of August 20, 2026, and is aimed at those who can stream 30 or more hours per week and enjoy chatting while playing games.
Selection Process and Benefits
The selection process consists of three stages: entry via Google Form (document screening), an online interview via Discord (camera-off is OK), and acceptance. There are no application fees, and a professional illustrator-designed Live2D model will be provided by the agency upon acceptance. However, bringing your own model is not permitted, and applicants must reside in Japan. Updates are also posted on the official Pastel Live X account.
Pastel Live’s Current Activities
Pastel Live currently has three 1st generation talents and focuses on YouTube live streaming, primarily featuring game commentary and singing streams. The agency plans to actively expand into collaboration events and merchandise sales going forward. Parent company Kisaragi Planning also operates the light novel e-label “Yozoragi Light Novel.”
Outlook
The recruitment condition seeking “talent well-versed in 90s–2000s otaku culture” is quite unique, reflecting a strategy of finding streamers who can weaponize niche knowledge. While many VTuber agencies focus on game streaming, Pastel Live is differentiating itself by seeking storytellers of retro culture. It will be exciting to see how Pastel Live evolves with the addition of its 2nd generation members.
