The Machi Supacha Project and Hokota City

The Machi Supacha Project aims to connect VTuber fans — primarily those in their teens to thirties — with cities they can “support like their favorite creators.” Through content such as manga and videos highlighting regional attractions, the project contributes to local revitalization and expanding hometown tax donations.
To date, the project has been implemented across 8 municipalities, including Hokota City in Ibaraki, Hachimantai City in Iwate, Niimi City in Okayama, Kitakata City in Fukushima, Tamana City in Kumamoto, Tarui Town in Gifu, Tsurui Village in Hokkaido, and Kawaguchi City in Saitama. Hokota City has previously hosted unique initiatives such as unmanned produce stands as part of the collaboration.
Campaign Overview and Featured Talents

This year’s campaign spans a wide range of activities. First, collaborative products developed with local businesses and VTubers will go on sale. Additionally, a farm experience event titled “Let’s All Pitch In! Farmland Expedition” will let participants harvest Hokota’s specialty crops firsthand.
On the streaming front, VTubers will broadcast 2 promotional livestreams on their YouTube channels (scheduled for September 2026 and March 2027), along with 3 vlog-style promotional videos (July 2026 and February 2027). Other planned activities include accepting hometown tax donations and various supplementary campaigns.
Message from the Mayor and Future Plans
Hokota City Mayor Igawa Shigeki commented, “Hokota still has untapped potential,” expressing his hope that the campaign will help more people discover Hokota and visit in person.
Details about the collaborative products and the farm experience event schedule are still being finalized. While livestream and vlog release dates may change, content is expected to roll out in stages through March 2027. The Machi Supacha Project as a whole continues to expand, with additional municipality partnerships anticipated.
Outlook
Reaching a third year of partnership between VTubers and a local government signals that this project has moved beyond a one-off promotion to build a lasting relationship. The multiple touchpoints designed to bring fans to the area — from farm experiences to collab merchandise — are noteworthy for creating a real connection between online audiences and rural communities. With the Machi Supacha Project now spanning 8 municipalities, its continued growth will be worth watching.
