Cleanup Volunteers at a VTuber ‘Pilgrimage Site’
This volunteer event is part of an initiative by the Machi Supacha Project in collaboration with Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture. Yumesuki Park, the cleanup site, is a local tourism facility famous for Japan’s largest parent-child-grandchild water wheels, and it was also featured in a vlog published as part of the ongoing project “Shigure Mito’s Niimi Quest Meetup 2nd.”
On the day of the event, participants will engage in cleanup activities and painting at the park, along with opportunities to interact with local residents. If applications exceed capacity, winners will be selected by lottery. Registration is available through the official website.

The ‘Oshi-eru Machi’ Initiative Expands to 8 Municipalities
The Machi Supacha Project targets VTuber fans in their teens to thirties, creating encounters with communities they can support — or “oshi.” Through content such as manga and videos, the project promotes regional revitalization and expanded hometown tax donations, and has been implemented across eight municipalities: Hachimantai City (Iwate), Niimi City (Okayama), Hokota City (Ibaraki), Kitakata City (Fukushima), Tamana City (Kumamoto), Tarui Town (Gifu), Tsurui Village (Hokkaido), and Kawaguchi City (Saitama).
uyet, Inc. supports the VTuber-related activities, working to build new forms of community engagement that connect VTuber fans with local regions.
Future Plans
FLN operates a platform for building community connections through five stages: “discover, engage, experience, connect, and find a new home.” Through this volunteer event, the company aims to foster lasting ties that make VTuber fans want to revisit and support Niimi City, with plans to continue developing real-world touchpoints such as bus tours and local business experiences.
Commentary
Fans visiting a region for cleanup activities inspired by a VTuber’s content represents a noteworthy new form of “pilgrimage.” The Machi Supacha Project has now expanded to eight municipalities, establishing itself as a successful model for VTuber-powered regional revitalization. The concept of turning fans’ “oshi-katsu” into community contributions has the potential to spread to many more municipalities in the future.
